General (Allopathic) Medicine

General medicine is the form of medical treatment that is the most familiar to the American public. It is practiced by physicians with a Medical Doctor MD or Doctor of Osteopathy DO degree. General medicine uses the familiar forms of treatment such as antibiotics, prescription medications, x-rays, MRI's, etc.  Allopathic medicine is extremely helpful when there is a chronic illness, acute illness, serious injury, infection, and life-threatening disease. Some DO's also practice osteopathic manipulation, a very useful form of bodywork.

As allopathic physicians, we use many of these modalities in the treatment of our patients when necessary. We are thankful for all of these treatment methods but are also aware that they can sometimes have serious side effects and unwanted complications.
